Cracked Rim Repair

Certified TIG welding seals cracks in alloy wheels and restores structural integrity — every weld repair is pressure-tested before it leaves the shop.

Cracked Rim Repair (TIG Weld)
From $129/wheel

A cracked rim is a safety issue, not a cosmetic one — and it's one of the few types of wheel damage we'll turn away if we don't think it can be repaired safely. Cracks typically show up near the spokes, around the valve stem, or along the barrel seam, and they're often accompanied by a slow air leak as the tire loses pressure through the fracture. Left alone, a crack propagates under the repeated stress of driving, which is why we don't recommend waiting on this one.

Our repair uses certified TIG welding to seal the crack and restore structural integrity, matched to the wheel's original alloy composition wherever possible. Every weld repair is pressure-tested afterward — not just visually inspected — before the wheel goes back into service. If a crack is too extensive, too close to a load-bearing area, or the metal has been compromised beyond a safe repair, we'll tell you honestly that replacement is the right call rather than welding something that shouldn't go back on the road.

Cracked rim repairs typically take a few hours depending on crack location and whether refinishing is needed afterward.

Questions

Cracked Rim Repair — FAQ

Many cracks can be TIG welded and pressure-tested back to safe, structural condition — especially cracks caught early, away from load-bearing spokes. Cracks that are extensive, located in a structurally critical area, or that indicate the metal has already fatigued are not safe to weld, and we'll recommend replacement instead. We'd rather lose the job than send out a wheel we wouldn't trust on our own car.
